The Trak Shak Twilight 5K Retro Run
Saturday, July 28th, Downtown Homewood, 6:00 p.m.
Admit it. We all have an old favorite shirt or pair of shorts that we just can’t get rid of that would be perfect for this race. In an attempt to liven up a hot summer night, the annual Retro 5K Run/Walk in downtown Homewood will feature a “retro” running outfit contest with a $100 cash prize to the winner. The top 3 overall men and women will also receive a cash award. Join us for a fast, flat 5K run while wearing your most bizarre running outfit leftover from the good ole days. After the race, we’ll have lots of Jim ‘n Nick’s BBQ, Michelob Ultra, Powerade, Coca-Cola products and music for your entertainment.
NEW THIS YEAR! Each 5K entrant will receive a gender specific Brooks Podium Trak Shak singlet. Since we had to order these in early June for this event, only the first 500 registrants will be guaranteed one and the earlier you register, the more likely you are to get the size you want. All others will receive an old race shirt of some kind, so register early! These shirts retail for $25 so you’re getting a great deal for your registration along with lots of other goodies in your race packet.
Packet pickup will be at The Trak Shak’s Homewood location beginning on Wednesday evening, July 25, at 4:00 p.m. and continuing through until 5:30 p.m. on race day. Don’t wait until 10 minutes before the race to pick up your packet or to register. We’ll be busy getting all the data entered for the race and won’t be available to give you your packet or register you after 5:30! Keep in mind that we have to have time to input all of the data before the race can start, so late registrations are hard to deal with and will make those early registrants mad at you for holding up the race.

RETRO KIDS
Make this a family event and bring your kids for the half-mile kids run. The top 3 boys and girls will receive some great kids Nike running gear. All kids will receive a Trak Shak tank top with their entry and hopefully lots of cool stuff in their race packets. Parents wishing to run with the kids won’t need to register for the Kids race if they’ve registered for the 5K. Parents not running in the 5K will need to register to run with the kids.
Mercedes Marathon online registration special
Register online during the month of July and save $5 on your registration for either the Mercedes Marathon or Alabama Power Half-Marathon in February. Early registration sure does help make planning easier. Keep in mind that we order medals and finisher’s shirts by November, so we can only guess so well. Register early! We’d really appreciate it!!
