The Trak Shak 5K Retro Run/Walk and Retro Kids 1/2 Mile Run
Saturday, July 26th, 6:00 p.m., Downtown Homewood
It's that time again – the 2008 Trak Shak 5K Retro Run/Walk and Retro Kids 1/2 Mile Run on
July 26th at 6:00 p.m. at the Trak Shak in Homewood. Join us for a flat, fast 5K run/walk
through the streets of Homewood and plan to stay afterwards for a great street party
featuring BBQ from our friends at Jim `n Nicks (runner's food is free – meal tickets for
friends and family can be purchased for $5) and lots of liquid refreshments from our friends
at Coca-Cola and Budweiser. The music will remind you of the days of your youth (or maybe
not) and will feature songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Admit it. We all have an old favorite shirt or pair of shorts
that we just can't get rid of that would be perfect for this race. Well, pull them out of
your drawer and plan to wear them. All participants are encouraged to dress in their
favorite old running clothes from days gone by. Tube socks, outdated Nike waffles and small
groovy Dolphin shorts are perfect!! The runner wearing the most authentic “retro” outfit
will win $100 cash. The audience will play a role in the winner so bring lots of friends if
you think you will be in the running. The winner will also make the cover of next year’s
brochure.
 Registration is available on line at Active.com or you
can pick up a brochure at any Trak Shak location. The cost is $20 for early registration
(Kids Run is $10). Price increases on race day by $5.00. The first 500 registrants are
guaranteed a technical singlet so register early!! 
2008 Summer Cross Country Series Has Started!
The Trak Shak is hosting a Summer Cross Country Series. The races will be held at Veteran's
Park (in front of Spain Park High School) on June 24th, July 8th, and July 22nd at 6 PM. The
entry fee for each race will be $8 or you can sign up for all three at once and pay $20. If
you participate in all three you will receive a Trak Shak "Tech Tee". The races will be "no
frills" with no official timing and are open to EVERYONE including high school runners, old
timers that want to bring back those old high school racing memories, and those of us who
just need to get in a training run! Registration forms will be available at all The Trak
Shak locations!

Retro Kids 1/2 Mile
Make this a family event and bring your kids for the half-mile kids run. All kids will
receive a Trak Shak tank top. Parents wishing to run with the kids won’t need to register
for the Kids race if they’ve registered for the 5K. Parents not running in the 5K will need
to register to run with the kids.

Packet pickup
Packet pickup will be at The Trak Shak’s Homewood location Thursday and Friday July 24 & 25
from 10 am until just before the race start. Don’t wait until 10 minutes before the race to
pick up your packet or to register.
