On Saturday, November 18, 2017, St. Catherine’s is going to be hosting its first ever “Turkey Trot for Hunger” 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run to help raise funds for our “Beans and Rice Pantry,” an outreach ministry of St. Catherine’s that we offer to the community on the third Saturday of each month. This is a great, family-friendly way to spend a Saturday morning, and all monetary donations received through registration will go to support the Beans and Rice Pantry at St. Catherine’s. In addition to monetary donations, we will be collecting non-perishable food items on the morning of the race.
The race will begin at the Chelsea Recreational Park (2966 County Rd 39, Chelsea, AL 35043) at 8:30 am on Saturday, November 18. Pre-race packet pickup will be held at St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, November 17. All racers will receive a swag bag, race t-shirt, and racing bib. The St. Catherine’s Turkey Trot for Hunger is a chip-timed race with a certified 5K course.

Our Beans and Rice Pantry currently serves almost thirty families every month. When our guests arrive, we give them two grocery bags of food (three pounds of rice, two pounds of beans, and other non-perishable food items). In addition, we give them household goods, such as toilet paper, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. We would be happy to have you come by and see how the ministry works on any third Saturday of the month, beginning at 9:00 am.
